Warsaw/Gdańsk, January 2025 – A major success for the noise protection specialists at Schrey & Veit: The leading provider of rail noise reduction solutions has begun work on the largest single contract in its company history, marking a significant milestone for sustainable and eco-friendly noise protection.
By summer 2025, a total of 145,512 track dampers will be installed along a 43-kilometer railway line between Warsaw and Gdańsk in Poland. This project is being carried out in close collaboration with their long-standing local partner, Bahati Rail.
Schrey & Veit employs mechanical installation methods, completely avoiding the use of harmful adhesives. This approach was a decisive factor for PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. (PKP), the operator of Poland’s rail network. In a pioneering step toward greater sustainability, PKP has mandated that track dampers in Poland can no longer be installed using adhesives. Instead, they are adopting mechanical installation methods to minimize environmental impact.
Focus on Technology: Sustainable and Efficient
Schrey & Veit’s mechanically clamped track dampers meet the highest technical and environmental standards. Their mechanical fastening ensures quick installation, eliminating the issue of adhesive residue. By avoiding chemical adhesives, the solution prevents contamination of soil and groundwater. This commitment to sustainability has made Schrey & Veit’s track dampers globally recognized, certified, and approved for use in nearly all countries.
For the company’s managing directors, Karl-Stephan Schneider and Simon Maurer, this large-scale contract represents a critical milestone. Schneider stated: “This project is not only the largest in our company’s history but also a crucial step toward fundamentally more sustainable rail infrastructure. Our dampers combine efficiency and environmental protection, meeting the rising demands for modern rail technology.”
Maurer added: “PKP’s decision to move away from adhesives sends a clear signal to the industry. We are proud to contribute our expertise and products to help create a quieter and more environmentally friendly rail infrastructure.”
Kamil Hajduk, CEO of Bahati Rail, also emphasized the significance of this collaboration: “We are pleased to be part of this historic contract in collaboration with Schrey & Veit. I am confident that this contract will pave the way for further major projects aimed at protecting people from rail noise using a 100% environmentally friendly method.”
A Project with Far-Reaching Impact
The Warsaw-to-Gdańsk project is considered a model for the entire rail industry. By combining technical innovation with environmental awareness, Schrey & Veit is setting new standards for the use of track dampers and demonstrating how ecological responsibility and economic success can go hand in hand.
